——————————————————————◊ Guitar Palette See chords, notes, and scales as they fit on the fretboard —————————————————————— • The Fretboard All the really good stuff in FretPet happens on the Fretboard. Be sure to have your guitar in your lap when you start playing with this palette. • The fretboard is displayed so that the head - or "nut end" - of the guitar at the top of the window. Notes always ascend in pitch from the top of the window to the bottom. • Fret 0 is referred to as the Open String. • There are 14 more frets labeled to the right of the guitar. • The window is resizable and any part of the fretboard can be viewed using the scrollbar. • There are always 6 strings visible. For bass guitar ignore the 2 highest strings. • Conventionally we call the string with the lowest pitch the Bottom String and the string with the highest pitch the Top String. ( This has nothing to do with the orientation of the guitar itself! ) • Use the FretStuff->Guitar Image menu to choose an axe to suit your mood. • Note Dots Notes appear on the fretboard as color-coded dots: ◊ Note is in the Current Scale ◊ Root Note of the Current Scale ◊ Unplayed (or unplayable) note ◊ Note is not in the Current Scale • Double-click on the fretboard to toggle a note. • Pressing will also toggle a note. • Triple-click to add a triad to the chord. •
